ESPECIALISTAS EN TELAS DE FIELTRO ORGÁNICO
About us
We are KUN, a company specialized in the production of organic felt fabrics. Felt is a non-woven fabric obtained from the mechanical union of fibers. In Kun we combine fibers of animal origin (alpaca and sheep) and vegetable fibers (cabuya and cotton), to obtain organic felt fabrics that adapt to a number of productive scenarios.
In 2013, we began an arduous research work in Ecuador and Australia. This work has been recognized nationally and internationally on several occasions. In 2017 we obtained seed capital from Senescyt (Ecuador). While in 2018, our research was selected to be exhibited at the VIII World Congress of Camelids in Bolivia.
What do we do?
Our mission is to elaborate felt fabrics of high strength and versatility that become a natural alternative to synthetic textiles. We are constantly researching and learning from the creation. We believe in the "intelligence design" within nature that have ensured the balance of ecosystem for millions of years.
Our research work, carried out in laboratories and the field, is based on the analysis and categorization of natural fibers. Later on, during the production process, we assemble organic felt fabrics, using different combinations. This way, we enhance the characteristics of natural fibers until transforming them into an intelligent textile that surpasses the quality of synthetics.
How do we do it?
Behind each organic felt fabric produced in Kun, there is a network of people -from alpaca and sheep breeders to non-for-profit organizations that seek community development and environmental welfare. Our network inspires our vision, which is to reconcile. In Kun we seek to reconcile our relationship with people, with nature and with consumers. This is why we have implemented a total traceability system that enables us to elevate our quality standards, obtain 100% natural products and verify our economic, social and environmental impact as manufacturers of organic felt fabrics.
SOCIAL IMPACT | |
The relationship we develop with our stakeholders goes beyond the transaction. We work with about 20 rural communities and associations of small scale-producers from Ecuador. Through this endeavor, we promote the integration of women and young people by implementing skill-building activities and fair trade practices.
ECONOMIC IMPACT | |
Besides producing organic felt fabrics, we focus on the intelligence behind their design. This continuous process of innovation allows us to transmit knowledge that boosts efficiency and quality across our supply chain. As a result, we boost commercial synergies, especially in rural areas of Ecuador, historically affected by poverty.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT | |
In addition to the use of natural raw materials, we support the efforts made by partner organizations that seek to preserve endangered areas in Ecuador. For instance, the alpacas that provide us with natural fibers are also a natural resource used for the conservation of water and endemic plants in the Ecuadorian highlands. |
